Common Installation Scenarios

G1 is installed in many different scenarios but in each case the impact of certain factors should be considered to ensure a successful deployment. The following section will address best practices for common deployment scenarios.

The following topics are discussed:

  • Vertical and horizontal placement of the BN when collocated with 3rd-party devices with the same channel and adjacent channel configurations

  • Angular separation (azimuth) suggestions for the BN when collocated with 3rd-party devices in the same channel or adjacent channel configurations

  • Ethernet cabling best practices

Vertical and Horizontal Placement

G1 should always be deployed with a vertical and / or horizontal separation from other devices of 4 feet (1.22 m). This is true whether the other system is deployed using the same or adjacent channels as G1 BNs.

Angular/Azimuth Separation

The angle a BN is deployed at is relative to the designed coverage area. A vertical and horizontal standard separation of 4 feet (1.22 m) is recommended.

Ethernet Cabling

New ethernet cabling is suggested for all Tarana deployments. If an existing cable must be used, an ethernet testing device that can test cable integrity and POE capabilities is required to verify the cable is able to provide 35W of power.
